Tiger Woods reveals plans for upcoming majors after completing rare 72 holes at Masters
Tiger Woods left to resounding cheers and was drenched in sweat for a follow-up interview.
Woods, arguably the greatest golfer in history, was in 60th place and a disappointing 16-over par after completing his final round of the 2024 Masters.
But just seeing Woods complete all four rounds was a welcome sight for golf fans.
Woods’ fan base became even more excited when it was revealed that the five-time Masters winner had big plans this season.
Woods, 48, is currently ready to compete in all four majors.
His focus is on the PGA Championship in May, the US Open in June and The Open in July.
It was a tough Masters for Woods, who started well but fell on Saturday and Sunday.
But he was also slowed down by bad weather on the first day, then was forced to complete a marathon session which bridged the gap between his first and second runs.
Woods was forced out of the Masters early last year due to an ankle injury that later required fusion surgery.
In 2024, he persevered and completed all 72 holes, shaking off his 16-over to demonstrate passion and determination for the sport as he approached the age of 50.
This is the first time Woods has completed 72 holes in a major tournament since the 2022 Masters two years ago.
“It was a good week,” Woods said. “It was a good week all round.
“I think coming here, having played a full tournament for a very long time, it was a good fight on Thursday and Friday.
“Unfortunately, yesterday things didn’t go the way I wanted.”
Woods has suffered serious injuries in recent years after a near-fatal car crash in 2021 and admitted he was more focused on majors than regular tournaments at this stage of his career.
“It’s a golf course I knew before I went there, so I have to do my homework for Pinehurst, Valhalla and Troon, but that’s kind of the game plan,” Woods said.
“I heard there are some changes to the next few sites, so I need to get there early and check them out.”
Amateur golfer Neal Shipley, who played alongside Woods on Sunday, said. “He’s such a normal guy and really cool.”
