The AFL world is mourning the loss of Ashlee Good on Sunday after her mother was fatally stabbed in Saturday’s horrific random attack at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney.

Good, 38, who left her injured baby in the hands of strangers, was the daughter of former North Melbourne player and Tasmanian Hall of Famer Kerry Good.

Good was well known in the Melbourne community and was close friends with former Demons player Steve Febey who paid a heartbreaking tribute to her on Sunday morning.

“Words fail me, absolutely broken,” Febey posted on social media alongside a series of photos of him and Good together.

“I don’t understand how this could happen to the most amazing, beautiful, caring human.

‘I will always cherish our friendship, our five stars and the good times we shared. I love you forever Ash xx.’

Kangaroos players will wear black armbands to honor Good in their match against Geelong on Sunday.

North Melbourne club president Dr Sonja Hood said the club was “extremely saddened” by the tragic death.

“Like all Australians, we were horrified to see the horrific details revealed in Sydney on Saturday,” Hood said.

“Learning later that Ashlee and her daughter were victims of this tragedy really reminds us of something like this.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone affected by these horrific events, especially Ashlee’s partner Daniel Flanagan, Kerry and Dian, Ashlee’s mother Denise, and the extended family and to Ashlee’s friends.

“Kerry and his family are incredibly important people in our club’s history and we offer them our love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

Just hours before the horror happened, Dr Good posted a photo on Instagram with his baby Harriet in his arms.

“Only because I walked past and wore the same thing for 9 months versus 9 months, etc.,” the caption reads.

She also posted a short video of her daughter sitting in a car seat with the song My Girl by The Temptations overlaid.

Heartbreaking details have been revealed about what happened when Dr Good and her baby were attacked.

Just before 5pm, a witness interrupted a Nine News reporter’s live feed and pointed at his brother, saying: “He’s a hero, he saved the baby.”

The man, visibly shaken, said he used clothes from a store to try to stem the baby’s bleeding.

“The baby was stabbed and, yes, the mother was stabbed,” he said. “The mother came with the baby and threw it to me.

“I just helped by holding the baby…and trying to compress it.”

The Good family released a statement on Sunday confirming that baby Harriet is “doing well.”
