Footy star BLOCKED from podcast after shooting at embattled Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge

  • Sam Draper will take a month’s break from the 200+ podcast
  • Draper made disparaging remarks about the Bulldogs
  • Luke Beveridge’s future with the Dogs is currently up in the air

Bombers ruckman Sam Draper will have a “four-week delay” before appearing on the 200+ podcast, after recently raising eyebrows for making comments about Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge.

Draper drew the ire of Bulldogs and Bombers officials after weighing in on Beveridge’s coaching tenure.

On the podcast, Draper — in a segment where he imitated a reporter — said he had a “big call” about the Bulldogs.

“If Bevo is still there, some players will ask for trades,” the 25-year-old said.

Journalist Caroline Wilson revealed that Draper will be taking a break from the podcast for a month to avoid any further drama.

“Sam Draper wanted to continue doing the podcast, Essendon didn’t,” Wilson explained on Nine’s Footy Classified.

“His management, Michael Doughty, intervened and said he could get a four-week period.

“There is a feeling at Essendon that they have been the scourge of the football world for a long time, and it is a bit early for them to be fighting at another club.”

Wilson went on to say that it took the 25-year-old a little while to understand how damaging his words were to the Bulldogs.

“I think the money was slow to come down with Sam Draper and he had to be told several times that it wasn’t funny,” she said.

Beveridge’s future with the Dogs is currently uncertain following a defeat to Hawthorn in round eight.

“The elephant in the room for Essendon is that what he was saying is what a lot of people think (about Beveridge),” Wilson said.

Bulldogs boss Kylie Watson-Wheeler has commented on speculation surrounding Beveridge’s future, asking supporters to remain patient.

“I think it’s too early in the season for us to panic or make rash decisions,” Watson-Wheeler told ABC Radio.

“But we always come together as a club and we always discuss our situation. Does the playing group have what they need? Are the right decisions being made?

“It’s not something you go into when you have a bad defeat… these conversations are happening constantly and we’re always assessing where we are as a club.”
