Fire at historic New Hampshire performance center

A massive fire threatened to engulf a historic New Hampshire theater and performance center Saturday evening.

The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene of the Flying Monkey incident in Plymouth after the location caught fire, state police told Boston 25 News.

Photos shared with Boston 25 News show a roaring fire engulfing the historic building.

The venue hosted a performance by Foreigners Journey with special guest Constantine Maroulis, according to the Flying Monkey schedule.

“The Flying Monkey has been at the heart of historic Plymouth, New Hampshire since it opened as the ‘New Plymouth Theater’ in the 1920s as a vaudeville and silent movie theater,” it reads. read on the building’s website. “After years of closure and disrepair, the Common Man family of New Hampshire purchased and carefully renovated the theater in 2010, relaunching it as The Flying Monkey Movie House & Performance Center.”

Boston 25 News has contacted the state fire marshal’s office, local police and firefighters to see if anyone was injured in the fire.
