Fernando Alonso responds to Taylor Swift ‘Aston Martin’ lyrics reference with cryptic video

Fernando Alonso appears to have jumped at the chance to address fans who think Taylor Swift was referencing him in her latest album.

The couple was rumored to be dating last year before the singer entered into a relationship with NFL and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

The Shake It Off singer’s romance with the American football star has taken the world by storm, with Swift referencing Kelce in at least one track from the new album.

But Swifties and Formula 1 fans went crazy on social media this week after hearing the lyrics to his new song “imgonnagetyouback”, believing two of the lines were about Alonso.

She sings: “Small talk, big walk, act like I don’t care what you did.” I’m an Aston Martin that you drove straight into the ditch, then ran and hid.

Now the Aston Martin driver himself has responded.

In a video posted to his team’s TikTok page, Alonso is seen sitting in a chair with an iPad in his hand.

The same section of the song that Swift was targeting Alonso is believed to be playing in the background while he sits there.

He then puts his fingers to his lips as if to “shh” to the camera before continuing to scroll.

“Fernando Alonso’s Taylor Swift TikTok is everything,” one fan wrote on X, reacting to the video.

A second added: “I just burst out laughing when this Fernando Alonso Aston Martin tiktok popped up on my fyp. Talk about seizing an opportunity.”

Swift’s album was launched the day before the Chinese Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel plays “Word Association” on F1 stars including Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and talks about the best drivers and future champions of all time.

Alonso will start Sunday’s race from third after a successful qualifying session, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez securing the lead of the grid for Red Bull.

But the Spaniard was less successful in Saturday’s sprint race, with Alonso forced to retire after making contact with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

He was judged by the stewards to have caused a collision and received a ten-second penalty after the race, which had no impact given that he failed to finish.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen chased down and passed Lewis Hamilton to claim victory in the opening sprint of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Hamilton finished second in the sprint, but then suffered a nightmare in qualifying as he was eliminated on the first lap – the Mercedes driver’s time was only good enough for 18th place.
