Fans are furious at the ’embarrassing’ WNBA after they can’t watch Angel Reese’s debut for Chicago Sky against the Minnesota Lynx…but the league is streaming Caitlin Clark’s game for free.

WNBA fans were furious Friday night because the league did not broadcast the league debuts of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso with a preseason game for the Chicago Sky against the Minnesota Lynx.

Instead, the WNBA website contained a link to the broadcast of Caitlin Clark’s league debut for the Indiana Fever against the Dallas Wings.

This forced fans to find live streams of fans at the match to see Reese and Cardoso’s first professional action.

A such a flow on reached a peak of around 260,000 viewers and lasted almost two hours.

Fans expressed frustration on social media with the WNBA’s decisions, accusing the league of not being ready to host both competitions.

“The WNBA is extremely embarrassing. Not having Angel Reese and (Kamilla Cardoso) games on the championship pass is insane. Angel Reese is one of the reasons women’s basketball gets so much attention but they made sure to put the white girl first, I’m sick of them,” one fan said on x.

“Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese make their professional preseason debuts and no one thought it would be smart to broadcast it somewhere?!?!?! Plus (Teresa Weatherspoon) makes her coaching debut -leader and still no one in power thought it would be smart?!?!’ said another WNBA fan on social media.

“The WNBA was completely unprepared for this moment and it’s a little embarrassing considering it’s not a start-up, it’s been around for over 20 years. It makes you wonder what ‘else they’ve done over the years That being said, as a hoops fan, I hope they figure it out soon, because people are dying to have a WNBA moment, but. as usual they are their own worst enemy,” a fan said on X.

“The @WNBA is doing so much harm to Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. The league is 80% black women, why aren’t they showing two of the most prolific young women to draft?! Whiteness has strangled you all. Fire anyone who makes these stupid decisions,” another WNBA supporter said on X.

The WNBA is entering an unprecedented era for its league with the simultaneous arrival of many marketable young stars, with Clark holding the lion’s share of those eyeballs coming from the college game.

Having her game broadcast on the WNBA website’s home page was deserved, but it left those who wanted to watch Lynx-Sky nowhere to go.

It is unclear why Chicago-Minnesota is not being broadcast and the league has not yet commented on the matter.

The Lynx beat the Sky 92-81, with Reese starting and scoring 13 points and Cardoso adding six points coming off the bench.
