An Iraqi security official told CNN that at least three people were injured in the explosions. A local hospital also told the Times that three people were injured.
It is unclear who or what caused the explosions.
Contacted by Business Insider, US Central Command noted a shared statement on X, which read: “We are aware of reports claiming that the United States conducted airstrikes in Iraq today. These reports are not true. The United States did not carry out airstrikes. strikes in Iraq today.
The Defense Ministry and the Israel Defense Forces did not immediately respond to BI’s requests for comment.
The reports come a day after Israel struck Iran, according to reports citing unnamed senior US officials. Several explosions were heard near an Iranian military base. The New York Times reported that two Israeli defense officials acknowledged that Friday’s strike was carried out by Israel.
The explosions came days after Iran attacked Israel last weekend, launching more than 300 missiles and drones, almost all of which were shot down by the IDF and allied forces, such as the United States.
