Ex-NFL star Chandler Jones ‘reaches plea deal’ in domestic violence case… as Super Bowl champion ‘AVOIDS jail’

Chandler Jones reportedly avoided prison after the former NFL star reached a deal with prosecutors in his domestic violence case.

It is claimed Jones – who won the Super Bowl in 2014 with the Patriots – has agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.

As part of the June 17 deal with Clark County prosecutors, according to TMZ, the other domestic violence charge against the 34-year-old was dropped.

The free agent would have been sentenced to 90 days in prison, but suspended.

TMZ reports that if Jones stays out of trouble for the next six months, the case will be dropped. However, he was ordered to avoid any contact with the victim.

Jones has sparked concerns about his mental health

Jones started crying remembering Aaron Hernandez

The former NFL star sparked concerns about his mental health when he suffered a breakdown in September

The 34-year-old was initially arrested in September 2023, when Las Vegas police arrested him for violating a temporary domestic violence protection order.

He was taken into custody and released by the Raiders shortly after. Jones was handcuffed again the following month for the security violation.

Still only 34 years old, Jones has not played in the NFL since being released by the Las Vegas Raiders. The defensive end had earned Pro Bowl honors four times in his previous 11 seasons in the NFL. He was also named to the 2010 NFL All-Decade Team.

But the series of run-ins with police – and his social media activity – have raised questions about Jones’ mental stability.

Last September, he appeared to suggest that Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels staged Aaron Hernandez’s 2017 suicide in a Massachusetts prison.

Hernandez, a tight end for the New England Patriots, hanged himself in 2017 after his arrest and conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
