Euro 2024 bracket and round of 16 schedule

The Euro 2024 round of 16 bracket is starting to take shape, with Group A first to complete play on a dramatic Sunday.

Host Germany got a stoppage-time goal from substitute Niclas Füllkrug to earn a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, clinching first place in the group. Swiss finished second and also advanced. Hungaryplaying at the same time, also scored a late goal – in the 10th minute of stoppage time – to secure a 1–0 victory over Scotland and third place in the group.

The top two teams from each group, plus the top four placed third, advance to the 16-team round of 16, meaning Hungary will have to wait to see if their three points are enough. Ties are broken first by head-to-head results – or results against all level teams, in the case of a multi-team tie – followed by goal difference and total goals scored. Beyond that, the calculations become more complicated.

Group B will end on Monday. Groups C and D will finish play on Tuesday, while Groups E and F will finish the group stage on Wednesday. The knockout stage of the tournament begins with a round of 16 on Saturday.

Besides Germany and SwitzerlandSpain And Portugal have already secured a place in the round of 16.

Monday’s Euro 2024 matches

  • Albania – Spain, 3:00 p.m.
  • Croatia – Italy, 3:00 p.m.

Group B, considered one of the toughest in the tournament, ends on Monday, and neither Croatia nor Italy are in a comfortable position. Defending champions Italy have already lost to Spain and need at least a draw against Croatia to secure their passage to the round of 16. Aging Croatia are still led by Real Madrid star Luka Modric but enter Monday bottom of the group.

Spain, meanwhile, have impressed so far and are yet to concede a goal. La Roja has already clinched first place in the group. Albania have scored first in each of their opening two matches, but they likely need an improbable victory against Spain to advance.

Groups C and D both conclude on Tuesday, as the tournament heads to the knockout stage. Group D will finish first, with France meeting Poland at noon East and the Netherlands taking on Austria at the same time. Poland are yet to record a point and were the first team eliminated from the tournament, while the Netherlands and Austria are both in a good position to advance. France will finish in the top two with at least a draw against Poland, or with a defeat and a victory or a draw for the Netherlands.

In Group C, Denmark will face Serbia and England will meet Slovenia, both at 3 p.m. ET. England are guaranteed to finish in the top two with a draw or victory against Slovenia, or with a draw or defeat for Denmark against Serbia. Denmark is guaranteed to pass if they win, but they have many other routes. Slovenia will also advance with a win, while Serbia – who enter in last place – need at least a win, or a draw and a Slovenia defeat, to have a chance.
