Newcastle will look to build on their brilliant win over West Ham this evening against Everton, and it’s live on talkSPORT 2.

It’s a big win for Eddie Howe’s men, who can close the gap to sixth place tonight with another victory against Everton.

The Toffees have been without a league win since December and are mired in a tense relegation battle.

Sean Dyche’s side beat Newcastle 3-0 in the reverse fixture, and they will be hoping to take advantage of the Toon’s shifty defense and get back to winning ways.

Newcastle vs Everton: the Magpies back for Europe?

At one point on Saturday, Newcastle were seven points behind West Ham and eight behind Manchester United.

However, this victory against the Hammers means that the Toon are suddenly back on the European scene.

If they were to beat Everton, they could overtake the Irons, who face Tottenham and close the gap on the Red Devils, who face Chelsea on Thursday.

However, the middle of the table is very tight and if Newcastle fail to win they will be just five points ahead of Bournemouth in 13th position. Each match is therefore extremely important for the Toon if they want to qualify for Europe again.

Their schedule is favorable compared to some of their opponents, with games against United and Spurs looking to be the toughest.

Newcastle have scored 63 goals this season, five fewer than they managed in the whole of last campaign.

But defensively, they have been all over the place, and if they are to miss out on Europe, it will be because of their leaky defense, which has collapsed in the absence of Nick Pope.
