  • Broad, who retired last year, received his honor from Princess Anne.
  • His final tally of 604 Test wickets is second only to Jimmy Anderson for England.

England legend Stuart Broad was presented with his CBE by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old, who retired in July as England’s second highest wicket-taker, was named in the New Year honors list.

The 6-foot-6 former pitcher had to bend over to have Princess Anne place the honor around his neck, even though she was standing on a platform.

Broad was joined by his fiancée and Saturday star Mollie King and his father Chris, who played Test cricket for England from 1984 to 1989.

The cricket star had an on-and-off relationship with King after first dating in 2012 before splitting – and eventually rekindling in 2018.

Broad called time on his storied career at the end of last year’s Ashes, signing with a wicket with his last ball to seal victory against Australia at The Oval.

His final tally of 604 Test wickets is second only to Jimmy Anderson for England and fifth overall.

Broad has also taken 178 wickets in ODIs and 65 in T20I cricket, along with over 4,000 runs.

Speaking after being recognized in the New Year honors list, he said: “All I ever wanted to do was play cricket, and to have had the career that I was able to enjoy and receiving honors like this is incredibly special.

“I am very proud that my contributions to cricket have been recognized, and it means a lot to me and my family.”
