Emma McKeon’s Coach Drops Bombshell On Her Romance With Cody Simpson By Revealing How Their Relationship Changed Her

  • McKeon’s swimming coach thinks couple could ‘end up together’
  • He says the relationship made McKeon both happier and calmer.
  • He says the swimming champion is a completely different person

Emma McKeon’s swimming coach has opened up about the Olympic champion’s relationship with Cody Simpson and why he thinks the power couple could be together forever.

McKeon, who is Australia’s most decorated Olympian of all time, is preparing for the Paris Games in July and her coach Michael Bohl, who also coaches Simpson, believes he has seen a big change in her as a result of this romance.

“I think he’s a different person,” Bohl told Wide World of Sports.

“No one can take away from her what she did in Tokyo. Fantastic results.

At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she became the first swimmer and second woman in history to win seven medals in a single match.

She also broke Commonwealth Games, Olympics and world records.

Bohl says this relationship has made McKeon both happier and calmer.

“She was at a stage in her life where she was single…and swimming was definitely her number one goal,” Bohl says.

“Swimming is still her number one goal, but she has a relationship now. She and Cody are dating. They’re very serious about their relationship. So there’s that level of contentment, but I don’t see it reflected in his attitude towards training.

“She’s very focused on trying to position herself as best as she can to try to get spots on this Olympic team.

“I think we’re happier when we’re in a relationship, and we’re a little more at peace as we get older.”

Last year the couple, who will celebrate their second anniversary this month, bought their first house together.

“You can see them finishing together,” Bohl said.

“They are very much in love.

“It hasn’t taken away her drive or desire to succeed in the pool, but she just seems a little happier.

“Not that she was sad before, but when you have a partner to bond with, it brings a little more stability.”
