West Ham midfielder George Earthy has been released from hospital following the head injury he suffered during Sunday’s Premier League match against Fulham.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut in the 82nd minute at the London Stadium, replacing Michail Antonio.

However, Earthy was taken off on a stretcher in stoppage time, with the arrival of Maxwel Cornet.

West Ham confirmed on Sunday that Earthy was awake in hospital after being transferred for further assessment.

The club have now revealed that Earthy has returned home after being released from hospital.

Earthy will now follow FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return to action.

“George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes his phased return to play programme,” said Richard Collinge, West Ham’s performance director.

Earthy was given oxygen on the pitch and treated for six minutes after an accidental collision with West Ham teammate Edson Alvarez.

West Ham boss David Moyes confirmed after the match that Earthy had suffered a head injury.

“West Ham United would like to express its thanks to our own medical team, as well as their counterparts at Fulham and Medics24, our pitchside emergency team, for the immediate response to yesterday’s incident,” a statement said of West Ham.

“The Club also thanks for the many messages of support sent to George.

“Everyone at West Ham United wishes George a safe and speedy recovery.”

Fulham won 2-0, with Andreas Pereira scoring both goals for the visitors.

It was a second senior appearance for Earthy, who came on as a substitute in West Ham’s Europa League win at home to Freiburg last month.

A West Ham academy product, Earthy was part of the West Ham U18 team that won the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League South last season.
