‘East Coast’s Largest Floating Crane’ Helps Clean Baltimore Bridge

The Chesapeake 1000, “the largest floating crane on the East Coast” according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, assisted in cleanup efforts at the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, removing large chunks of the structure.

The time-lapse images here were taken on April 19 and show the process at six times faster than normal.

“Removing these large chunks will help open a limited-access channel that will allow one-way shipping traffic to the Port of Baltimore,” the Army Corps of Engineers said. Credit: US Army Corps of Engineers via Storyful
