Devin Haney has broken his silence following reports that Ryan Garcia tested positive for PEDs after their fight.

Garcia, 25, scored a majority decision victory over Haney last month in Brooklyn, going into the fight as an underdog but flooring his opponent three times in 12 gripping rounds at the Barclays Center.

The victory marked Garcia’s biggest win of his career to date, and came after weeks of bizarre social media posts and rants in the build-up to the fight.

However, the high of winning quickly turned into a major low, according to the boxing reporter Dan Rafael reporting Thursday that the lightweight returned a positive test for the banned substance Ostarine.

The struggling boxer immediately took to social media to deny the claims on Wednesday evening, calling the reports “fake news”, and his opponent Haney has now responded.

In a statement made to ESPNHaney said: “We learned of this situation not long ago and it is unfortunate that Ryan deceived and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and becoming positive not once, but twice.

“I have always been an advocate of clean fighting and this is an example of that. Ryan owes the fans an apology and based on his recent tweet, he still thinks it’s a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people and make a living. You don’t play boxing.

“It puts fighting in a completely different light. Despite the disadvantage, I still fought on my shield and got up!

“People die in this sport. It’s nothing to laugh about.

Garcia would now have 10 days to request his B sample to be tested, which he would have to pay for himself.

He reportedly failed for the substance in two urine sample tests taken the day before the fight and also after the fight, with the fight spanning 12 rounds and securing Garcia the 21st victory of his career, with just one loss to his credit, although that could now be taken away from him.

A sample also tested positive for 19-norandrosterone, but is not confirmed until further laboratory analysis, according to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.

On X, formerly Twitter, he posted a series of messages immediately after the allegations, including sharing a video and speaking out on a space.

Other messages included: “I need more steroids, I’m addicted UGHHH”, and “They’re trying to take away my biggest win, it’s kinda sad when you think about it, I’m sorry sheet, I love God and he will do this right, I love you Jesus.” ‘.
