Danny Jansen set to play for two teams in same game

BOSTON — Monday’s start of the suspended game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays will make history.

So not only will Monday’s 2:05 p.m. ET game begin with the Blue Jays sending out a pinch hitter to replace Jansen, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Friday that he will be putting Jansen behind the plate to replace Reese McGuire.

The same McGuire who was designated for assignment and ultimately traded to Triple-A Worcester as part of a roster move corresponding with the Red Sox’s acquisition of Jansen.
