Cowboys to re-sign Ezekiel Elliott after year-long separation
Zeke is back with the ‘Boys.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys have agreed to terms of reunion pending a physical, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Elliott, 28, was in Dallas on Wednesday to discuss a potential return after a strong campaign with New England last season.
Although no deal was reached in the initial meeting, the Cowboys reunited with Elliott after he failed to address the running back position in the 2024 NFL Draft, which took place in Detroit from 25-27 april.
The Cowboys needed help in the backfield after also losing Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard, who signed a three-year contract with the Titans in March.
A first-round pick (No. 4 overall) by the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft, Elliott played through the 2022 season, earning three Pro Bowl nods while leading the league in rushing two times.
He is the franchise’s third all-time leading rusher.
Elliott was released in March 2023 and signed with the Patriots last August for one season.
