Erik ten Hag will be desperate to reach the showpiece match and facing Championship opposition makes his side strong favourites.

However, Mark Robins’ men have already knocked out Wolves en route to this stage and know they can fight.

Coventry v Man United: Robins the Red Devil

It will be a special clash for Coventry manager Robins, who played for Man United and even won an FA Cup with them.

In 1990 he scored the only goal of the game against Nottingham Forest while keeping United in the competition which they eventually won.

The goal would also have saved Sir Alex Ferguson’s job at the time, with defeat spelling the end of the iconic boss.

Robins played a total of 61 times for the Red Devils early in his career before joining Norwich City and a myriad of other clubs.

The 54-year-old now has the chance to pull off a giant massacre with Coventry and end their hopes of silverware this season.

He may have saved Sir Alex’s job 34 years ago, but he could now play a big role in ending Ten Hag’s time at United.

Coventry vs Man United: team news

Coventry will miss Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Jamie Allen for the semi-final.

Ellis Simms and Haji Wright are expected to be the main dangers for the Sky Blues, with the former scoring five goals in the FA Cup so far.

As for Man United, Antony could return after missing the draw against Bournemouth last weekend.

Scott McTominay is also close to returning, but the Red Devils’ injury list remains long.

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial are all excluded.

Coventry vs Man United: what was said?

Coventry boss Robins was delighted to draw against Man United in the semi-final.

“Drawing United is certainly special,” Robins said. “But drawing one of those teams would have been special.

“If you look at the remaining teams, to be in the cup at this stage with the top clubs is an achievement in itself.

“I was there as a kid and came to United. But my loyalty is certainly now to Coventry City.

“It’s at Wembley. It’s a great opportunity. We need to come up with a plan that’s going to give us the opportunity to get into the game and see where it takes us.”
