Courtroom Cartoonist Reveals How Donald Trump Handled Judge’s Rebuke

Veteran courtroom artist Christine Cornell described Donald TrumpIt’s a very physical response to Judge Juan Merchan’s reprimands of the former president during his secret trial.

Trump “was beside himself” when it was revealed that a potential juror had filmed the celebrations that took place when President Joe Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 election, Cornell told CNN’s Erin Burnett on Tuesday.

Trump started mumbling and Merchan “scolded him, which I thought was awesome,” she recalled.

The presumptive GOP nominee “tilted her head back and closed her eyes when the judge said that,” added Cornell, who said she “loved” the moment.

Cornell elsewhere in the interview described the selected jurors as if they had been “hit by a ton of bricks.”

A “unique” aspect of the trial, she added, was the number of potential jurors who came back on the second day to tell Merchan that they had “slept on it” and decided they would not be able to be fair in the case, whereas the usual excuses for avoiding jury service center around work and family commitments.
