Gunman shot dead after crashing into Conway Massage Envy, mall standoff with SWAT and multiple agencies

CONWAY, Ark. – Arkansas State Police are investigating after a gunman crashed into a business in Conway, leading to a standoff with SWAT and negotiation teams.

The Conway Police Department posted on social media Saturday morning advising the public to avoid the Lewis Crossing Mall and surrounding areas due to an active incident involving SWAT.

In an update, Conway PD said officers responded to a call that someone had driven their vehicle into Massage Envy at 1040 South Amity Road.

Officers arrived to find an armed man who had barricaded himself in a room of the business.

SWAT and negotiation teams responded to the scene. While attempting to speak with the man, police said the individual began shooting at the officers who returned and shot the man.

Medical attention was initiated and the subject was transported to a local hospital. Police said no officers were injured in the shooting.

Some officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of the ASP’s investigation.

Lewis Crossing Shopping Center is located off Dave Ward Drive and east of Interstate 40.
