Top four ‘will be difficult’

Van de Ven speaking to Sky Sports: “Today was not a good performance from us. We can do a lot better.

“In the first half we didn’t try to play. We didn’t push forward when we came out. We tried to play in the second half but we didn’t have that confidence today.

“We need to come back from this game and bounce back better this weekend.”

“(The top four) will be difficult. I don’t want to admire the Champions League after this match, it was not a good performance from us and it is important that we play a good match on Sunday.”

Pochettino: It’s the first time this season that I feel so happy

Pochettino to Sky Sports: “We have confidence in our players and even with the circumstances we find ourselves in today (14 injuries), we really think this is an opportunity to show that we believe in what we do, in our philosophy.

“All credit goes to the players. In the way they approached the game, the first half, the way we defend and the way we try to play.

“I think this is the first time in the season that I feel this happy because this is the moment where, after 10 months, the team starts to realize that we have to compete. And today we have competed very well.

“I don’t know if it’s the best performance (of his tenure) but the most important thing is the feeling. With all the negative circumstances that have shown that we are doing things well, but not just the click we need to compete better, but how? Being connected to the game, the whole team in both phases was connected.

“A few weeks ago we were talking about ‘what happened here?’ The level was so low. In this process we were talking about time. »
