Bukayo Saka left furious at referee as Arsenal denied late penalty against Bayern Munich in Champions League clash

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has expressed his fury after being denied a last-gasp penalty in the 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich.

Referee Glenn Nyberg decided not to award the Gunners a penalty in stoppage time despite replays showing Manuel Neuer bringing the winger to the ground.

Replays showed Neuer bringing Saka to the ground

And as play continued, the match official finally blew the whistle – but at full time it left the Arsenal players furious.

Saka was among the angriest when he approached the referee and confronted him about the decision, which VAR did not review.

He was not alone and Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown were left in disbelief at the decision.

Keown told Laura Woods on TNT Sports: “From where we were standing, I thought all day it looked like a penalty.

“It is suspected that Saka puts his foot towards the ball, but goalkeeper Neuer’s movement is actually towards this ball.

“He comes out and makes the challenge. For me, it’s a penalty all day.”

Ferdinand interjected venomously: “How was it not given!? I can’t believe it with VAR and everything. I can’t believe it. This man (Neuer) has a life there.

“Saka was the most dangerous player for Arsenal. He runs there, it’s a penalty. I’m walking around in disbelief with my hands on my head.”
