Arsenal handed unusual kick-off time against Wolves amid awkward 10 fixture pile-up along with Liverpool and Man City

Arsenal are in the midst of a chaotic fixture schedule and have been handed a strange kick-off time this weekend.

The Gunners travel to Wolves on Saturday, live on talkSPORT, with the match kicking off at the unusual time of 7.30pm.

This slot was chosen for the match as Mikel Arteta’s side have midweek fixtures on either side.

It comes just three days after Arsenal travel to Bayern Munich for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

Then, next Tuesday evening, Mikel Arteta’s men will host Chelsea at 8 p.m. for a match postponed due to the Blues’ involvement in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Therefore, the only slot available to allow players sufficient recovery time was a very late kick-off on Saturday.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PREMIER LEAGUE

After a damaging defeat against Aston Villa last time out, Arsenal will be keen to bounce back and regain momentum in the title race.

And they will need to recover quickly from this loss with so many games scheduled for the rest of this month.

Things are set to get hectic for the Premier League title contenders, as after playing three games in less than a week, they are currently scheduled to face Tottenham on Sunday, April 28.

The Premier League has confirmed that this match will be moved to April 27 if the Gunners are drawn to play in the Champions League semi-finals on April 30.

So, if this match was rescheduled, Arsenal would have been forced to play ten matches over a four-week period.

Title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City have not had it easy either, with nine games scheduled in the same period.

Speaking in February after the Gunners had a 19-day break despite the busy schedule ahead, Arteta insisted he was not worried.

The Spaniard said: “It is like that. We knew it, it was an option and now we will plan to use this time in the best possible way.

“Because that would mean we would then have a busier time in April.”

He added: “The difference is three or four extra days.

“We’re going to have two or three weeks (without a game) and I don’t think it’s going to change the world.”
