Arabian Crown is the 6-1 second favorite for the Betfred Derby after a three and a quarter length professional victory in the bet365 Sandown Classic Trial.

Jockey William Buick, who rode the entire race on the Charlie Appleby-trained son of Dubawi, said: “I think everyone will be happy with it, I was. He has a great stride and likes to use it.

The 5-4 Derby favorite is City of Troy, trained by Aidan O’Brien, who runs in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket next Saturday.

After Charyn reduced Poker Face to win Sandown’s Bet365 Mile by a length and a quarter, trainer Roger Varian will target him in the Group One Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 18.

High-profile assignments are also in store for the Harry Charlton-trained Okeechobee after he beat 2023’s third desert hero St Leger by a head in the Gordon Richards Stakes. The latter, wearing the colors of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, will make an additional start before the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.
