Antioch man sentenced to 18 years in prison for 2023 homicide outside liquor store

MARTINEZ — A young man was sentenced to 18 years in state prison for killing Antioch’s first homicide victim of 2023, court records show.

Corey Hill, 20, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter. In exchange for his no contest plea, prosecutors dropped the murder charges against him.

The plea deal was finalized in February but was not previously reported.

Hill fatally shot Emani Flenoid, 25, of Pittsburg, during an argument outside a liquor store on Sycamore Drive in Antioch, police said at the time. The shooting took place shortly before 11 a.m. on January 17, 2023.

Hill was transferred to prison on February 8, 2023, almost a year to the day after prosecutors charged him with murder. He received credit for the year he spent in the county jail while the case was pending, records show.
