The causes of his death and the circumstances of his death are unclear.
Marquis, whose full name was Mark D. Ross, joined the team in 1986 as a friend of DJ David Hobbs, aka Mr. Mixx.

Hobbs was also part of 2 Live Crew’s best-known line-up, which included Fresh Kid Ice (Christopher Wong Won) and Luke Skyywalker (Luther Campbell.)

Luther “Luke” Campbell offered his condolences for the loss of Marquis in a tweet shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“My condolences go out to Brother Marquis’ family and so many of his fans around the world after learning of his passing,” he wrote. “We fought so many battles for the culture to make good music together something I will never forget.
“We recently got back together to fight another fight to get back our catalog that was stolen from us. We will continue this fight in his name for his family. Brother Marquis, who I know, would like us to celebrate his life which is exactly what I’m going to do RIP bro.

The Miami-based group was known for its controversial hit songs, primarily from its 1989 hit album, “As Nasty As They Wanna Be.”
The government called the album “legally obscene”, but the decision was overturned by the United States Court of Appeals in 1992 after ruling that the album had significant influences on Afro culture and literary traditions. -Americans.

Fresh Kid Ice, one of the founding members, died in 2017. He was 53 years old. Ice, whose full name was Christopher Wong Won, is considered one of the first Asian rappers to achieve success in the United States.
He formed the group with Mr. Mixx and Amazing Vee (Yuri Vielot), and was the only member to appear on every album.
