16-year-old billionaire heiress disappears in ‘notorious San Francisco Tenderloin’: her father is co-founder of messaging app Slack

The 16-year-old daughter of a billionaire tech CEO is missing and is believed to be in San Francisco’s tough Tenderloin neighborhood.

Mint Butterfield, daughter of wealthy businessman Stewart Butterfield, was last seen Sunday evening around 10 p.m. in Bolinas, California, and was reported missing the next morning by her mother.

The teen has a history of substance abuse and is known to frequent San Francisco’s notoriously dangerous neighborhood, “The Tenderloin,” according to the San Francisco Standard.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office posted a “missing” flyer with Mint’s photo on the social media platform Nextdoor on Tuesday.

Supervisor Matt Dorsey shared the flyer on X and said Butterfield was now suspected of hanging around the net.

Mint was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pajama pants and black boots. She is described as having curly brown/reddish hair and pierced eyebrows.

At the time of her disappearance, Mint was living with her mother and attending a private boarding school in the Napa area, according to the sheriff’s office.

In 2021, Butterfield purchased a $31.7 million mansion in Aspen, Colorado. The residence, located in the exclusive Five Trees neighborhood, sits on a five-acre estate overlooking the Castle Creek Valley.
