John Sterling enters the bottom of the ninth inning of his illustrious play-by-play career with the Yankees.
The longtime radio voice of the Yankees is expected to announce his retirement at a news conference Friday, The Post has learned.
The press conference and the possibility of Sterling’s retirement were first reported by The Athletic.
Sterling, 85, has reduced the number of games he calls in recent seasons — he doesn’t travel as often — due to recent health issues.
His famous individual home runs have certainly earned him a place in Yankees lore and the hearts of fans.
