16 songs in this Telugu movie!

Nowadays, it has become quite difficult for a movie soundtrack to contain five or six songs. One reason for this is the risk of shooting them.

There is also a shortage of music composers who can deliver an album with 100% hit songs. That’s why, no matter how big a film is, they limit themselves to four or five songs in an album.

It couldn’t be more different from how we made films and consumed music in the past. For example, K. Raghavendra Rao’s visual masterpieces like Annamayya and Pelli Sandadi had more than a dozen songs in a single film album. The iconic Bollywood classic Hum Aapke Hain Kaun had as many as 14 songs, and all of them were chartbusters.

Coming to the present, director Sriram Adittya on Saturday revealed that his upcoming film Manamey starring Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty will have as many as 16 songs, shocking everyone.

A family artist having such a big album in this day and age is indeed surprising. The film’s music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, who has proven his mettle as a composer to watch out for, with his music in Kushi and Hi Nanna.

The film team also said that Manamey could be Hesham Abdul Wahab’s best work in career. If this is true, then music lovers are in for a treat. Although not all songs are the same length, the tracks are guaranteed to be unique.

The success of Manamey’s music may also be a game changer in music consumption by proving that audiences will enjoy films with more songs. More and more filmmakers, who are hesitant to make music a large part of their film, will be forced to reconsider their position provided Manamey provides a positive precedent.

Returning to the big screen two years after his heartwarming sci-fi relationship drama Oke Oka Jeevitham, Sharwanand looks very confident this time. He said the team tried its best despite the odds and assured his fans that Manamey would be a blockbuster.

For Krithi Shetty, the lead actress of the film, Manamey’s success will be crucial for her prospects in the Telugu film industry. With just six days left for the release, the makers are planning to promote the film with more intensity in the coming days.
