While Zomato has not officially announced the service, it is live on the Zomato app.
A “15-minute delivery” tab appears under the Zomato app’s explore section. Like Swiggy’s Bolt, this offering displays certain quick-to-prepare and ready-to-eat dishes from select restaurants. But unlike Bolt’s popular 10-minute promise, Zomato offers a 15-minute delivery. As per restaurants listed on the app, Zomato too, seems to be delivering from restaurants within a 2-kilometer radius.
Zomato’s foray into 15-minute delivery comes at a time when the quick food delivery space is heating up, becoming the next frontier of quick commerce.
This is also after Zomato’s quick commerce unit Blinkit launched ‘Bistro’. While Bistro has yet to become operational, the website says it will deliver ‘healthy juices, snacks, meals’ in minutes.
Swiggy launched Bolt in October and said during its Q2 earnings that 5% of all its good delivery orders were already coming from Bolt.
Ola, too, launched a 10-minute food delivery called Ola Dash in Bengaluru. The service is in the process of expanding nationwide.
Zepto, too, launched a separate app for Zepto Cafe as it said it was seeing immense demand and so, a standalone app makes business sense.
