Zelle popular digital payment service to stop the mobile application – NBC Chicago

Zelle, one of the most popular digital payment services in the United States, has closed its autonomous mobile application.

But the money transfer service has not left for good.

In an advertisement last year, the company said that only 2% of transactions actually occur on their application. It is more common for people to access the service via the website or the application of their bank.

The application, launched in 2017, was created in competition against other popular applications which transfer money such as Veno, Cash App and Apple Pay. Now, more than 2,000 credit banks and cooperatives use the service.

The company said that the service use process via a banking application will not be affected. Transactions via Zelle will always be able to take place, as long as the user will do via his bank.

In their declaration, the company said that the small percentage of consumers who use the zelle autonomous application will have to re -register through their banking institution, if they use the service.

Those who strictly use Zelle through their financial institution will not be affected by change.
