‘Zelensky assassination plot foiled’ when Ukraine arrested two of its own counterintelligence agents: Russia hoped to locate a safe haven and wipe it out with missile and drone strikes

An assassination plot against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been “foiled”, according to the Ukrainian security service.

Two Ukrainian counterintelligence agents were reportedly arrested in connection with “(Russian intelligence’s) plans to eliminate the Ukrainian president and other representatives of the state’s highest military and political leadership.”

Ukraine’s security service claimed on Telegram that two colonels were involved in the plot, who allegedly “leaked” information to Russia.

SBU investigators reportedly uncovered a long-term plot to closely track those under surveillance before targeting a shelter with a “rocket attack.”

“Then they were going to attack with a drone the people who remained in the affected area,” the SBU claimed, without providing evidence.

“After that, the Russians planned to target with another missile, in particular to destroy traces of the drone’s use.”
