Youtuber Stacey Tournée first survived an off -road accident with a fiancé after the car fell 656 feet

The couple – who led the Toyota World Runners account on YouTube – was killed in a tragic accident in British Columbia on August 7.

After the tragic accident, Mark Jennings-Bate of Kaslo Search and Rescue told Corporation of Canadian RadioOr CBC, said that a passenger had been declared dead at the scene, and the other was taken to the hospital, where they died of their injuries.

Speaking with PEOPLEJennings-Bate said that the accident site was a “hinterland path” with “fairly hard” land, adding that the Yeomans vehicle and the tour fell on a “steep rock field”, falling approximately 200 meters, about 656 feet.

According to Jennings-Bate, the tour was still in the vehicle when it stopped.

“From what I understand, it is one of the rare plots of the road that has no forest on the side,” he said to PEOPLE. “So everywhere else, they would have been caught by the trees – they might have been a little injured. But this is the only area where they were going to make a big trip if they went from the secondary road.”

After the accident, Jennings-Bate told the CBC that the rescue teams “had been able to access them effectively,” noting that the helicopter pilot was able to “fly directly to the destination”. He shared with PEOPLE That the rescue teams consisted of two fields and an air team, saying that the rescue team had to use strings to go to the couple’s body.

The YouTube Tour and Yeomans account had more than 200,000 subscribers, while 75k others followed their adventures on Instagram.

The two claim to have built the “first quinnate of the Land Cruiser in the world in 100 days”, which they apparently driven into the world, sharing videos from their travels. “We document our construction, the travel plan and hope to leave you wisdom and inspiration to explain why we travel and how you can find the accomplishment doing the same – in your own way,” they shared on their YouTube page.

In another Facebook publicationOne friend of the couple, Colin Stuart, said he was with them when the accident occurred.

“I have just experienced the saddest chapter of my life last week. As many of you know now, Matthew Peter Yeomans and Tournée are no longer with us,” he wrote. “I was with them when it happened and I did everything in my power to save them.”

“These are the most difficult 20 hours I have ever experienced. The most difficult decisions I have ever made,” he continued. “I am sorry for everything that has affected. It is a big loss for the off -road community and a greater loss for the family of Matthew and Stacey and close friends … My heart goes to all.”

The mother of Touers also responded to the post in the comments, writing: “Colin – not only your heroism that evening, but your desire to speak to us and offer us a peace to understand why two wonderful souls were taken from this land so early will never be forgotten.” She added that she was “forever grateful”, conclusive “, please take care of you, we need more people like you on this earth.”
