“You’re Wrong About CM Punk” – Attitude Era Legend Reveals Details of Recent First Meeting With WWE Star

CM Punk may be one of the most controversial stars of the modern wrestling era, but Attitude Era legend D-Von Dudley says many are “wrong” about the world’s best.

Currently sidelined due to injury, Punk still poses an absolute threat in WWE, notably tormenting Drew McIntyre.

It's fair to say that major WWE star CM Punk has ruffled a few feathers in the wrestling industry over the years.

Punk is arguably the reason McIntyre’s reign as World Heavyweight Champion only lasted five minutes after the two faced off at WrestleMania 40 following Drew’s big victory over Seth Rollins.

McIntyre and Punk continue to trade verbal jabs every week on WWE Raw and on social media, with a memorable feud sure to follow once the latter returns to in-ring competition.

The fact that the Chicago native can still get under McIntyre’s skin — even if it’s only in storylines — is a testament to Punk’s ability to rub people the wrong way.

He’s had his fair share of controversy over the years, from his infamous Pipe Bomb promotion in WWE to a backstage brawl in AEW that ultimately resulted in his departure from Tony Khan’s company.

However, one wrestling legend is more than happy to have him back in WWE.

Attitude Era icon D-Von Dudley, one half of the Dudley Boyz, believes punk is a natural fit with the organization whose on-screen product is now led by Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Dudley told talkSPORT.com that he also loves the star’s current storyline with McIntyre, saying: “I love it, I absolutely love it.

“You have a reputation for being the best in the world, you’re on top of everything and you do your thing.

“All of a sudden you go somewhere else and it’s not what you think and you’re stigmatized.

“Then you come back home to where you belong, and now all of a sudden you’re thriving.

“You are doing exactly what you should be doing when you first set out; you take over and you’re a household name again.

“I love that CM Punk is back in WWE doing his thing.”

Dudley and Punk will have the chance to be reintroduced to a new generation of wrestling fans with the launch of the new WWE 2K24 ECW Punk Pack, now available for download.

D-Von, a 51-year-old former grappler turned backstage producer, himself had the chance to meet Punk for the very first time at WWE’s recent WrestleMania in April.

The tag team specialist was left upset by the multi-world champion, insisting many of those calling him a problem have it all wrong.

Dudley recalls: “I met him in the elevator at WrestleMania…we had never met before.

“I was very excited to meet him because I had never met him before. I had heard a lot about him but I had never met him.

“(He was) one of the most genuine guys I think I’ve ever met.

“He was very outgoing and very friendly, not like some people like to say.

“Drew McIntyre might want to beat me up for this, but you’re wrong about CM Punk, I think you should sit down and have a beer or a cup of coffee or something.

“Maybe think about the things you say about him and maybe he won’t come after you like he does!” »

Gamers who think they’re hardcore can prove it by taking things to the extreme with the WWE® 2K24 ECW Punk Pack, available now, featuring CM Punk, Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Sandman, Terry Funk and an ECW Paul. Heyman Manager card.
