‘You’re retired’ – Amanda Nunes confuses fans by posting footage following Kayla Harrison’s debut win over Holly Holm at UFC 300
Amanda Nunes appears ready to end her MMA retirement.
The former double-weight champion watched from home as Kayla Harrison made her UFC debut at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Some people were leaning toward Holly Holm pulling off the upset, but she was dominated from the first bell and ultimately suffered a rear-naked choke submission loss in the second round.
Raquel Pennington is the current bantamweight champion and is expected to defend her belt against Julianna Pena at some point this summer.
It appears the UFC newcomer wants to face the winner later this year.
“I want my title next,” Harrison told Joe Rogan in a post-fight interview.
“That’s why I came here, for one thing and one thing only.
“I don’t care if it’s Raquel. I don’t care if it’s Julianna.
“By the end of the year, I will be UFC champion.”
“The Lioness” watched at home and filmed herself while Harrison spoke with Rogan after her first win with the company at T-Mobile Arena.
Nunes captioned his footage “Chama,” which means fire in English, but is often used by Brazilian fighters, including Alex Pereira, to replace “Let’s go.”
The MMA legend, who retired last year, said nothing but tapped his ear and shrugged in disappointment when Harrison failed to call him out at UFC 300 .
Fans quickly flooded her comments section to remind her of something.
One person said: “But you’re retired, champ. »
Another wrote: “You are retired…”
Someone else tweeted: “Aren’t you retired lol?”
A fourth person asked: “Is she back?”
Nunes and Harrison trained together at American Top Team, but the former UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion opened her own gym when they became potential rivals.
Now it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Nunes ends his short retirement and returns to the Octagon for a fight with Harrison.
