The Arizona Daily Star Sportsmen’s Fund raises funds so children from low-income households and military families can attend summer camp at little or no cost to their families.
Since 1947, the Athlete Fund has helped pay 43,468 children to attend camp. We’re one of Arizona’s oldest and most successful 501©(3) charities, earning 97 cents on every dollar spent sending kids to camp.
We send local children to YMCA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout overnight camps, as well as overnight camps at Camp Tatiyee for school-aged children and teens with special needs.
Our goal is to raise $238,000 to send up to 700 children to camp. So far, we have received 668 donations totaling $117,511, just under half, with camps underway. Last month, we increased the goal by $13,000 so that 13 children with special needs from the Tucson area who were on a waiting list for Camp Tatiyee could attend.
