“With so many heartbreaking stories in the world right now, we thought we’d take a break from a regular cold open and instead hear some heartwarming stories from our mothers,” Kenan Thompson said after introducing his mother to the Studio audience 8H.

After the rest of the cast introduced their mothers in the same way, host Maya Rudolph took the stage.
