York Dante Meeting, Day 2, Horse Racing Tips from Ed Quigley

Top tipster and broadcaster, Ed ‘Longshot Ted’ Quigley has been in sensational form recently and is back with his best bets for York on Thursday…

Ted’s picks for the York Dante Meeting – Day 2, May 16:

Check out the following picks for day one of day two of the York Dante Meeting. Bet on the races with our best expert-rated horse racing betting sites:

  • York 2.15 – Equilateral in each direction – bet with bet365
  • York 3.15 – Sapphire Seas – bet with CopyBet
  • York 5.20 – London City – bet with PariMGM

York 2.15 – Equilateral in each direction

EQUILATERAL is a bit of an enigmatic character, but he’s more than capable of hitting in a race of this nature for the Charlie Hills and Jamie Spencer combination. The 9-year-old blows hot and cold, but has a record of three wins in three Handicaps starts, and a very good record in races like these, including winning over course and distance last August.

Starting at just 1 pound heavier, he should be an every-way player here with the yard in flying shape, and the horse has a good track record when it comes to freshness. With a high pace to aim for, you can see him bowling late here in typical Jamie Spencer fashion.

York 3.15 – Sapphire Seas

SAPPHIRE SEA is a progressive guy and looks more than capable of winning here for the red-hot outfit of William Buick and Charlie Appleby. The daughter of Frankel was in sensational form last year, winning four races on the bounce while progressing through the grades, and only found her winning run when she started in a Group 2 at Meydan.

This totally unexposed guy can take his fitness to new levels. 10f on the Knavesmire must be perfect for her, and with the yard still smiling after recent classic success, it would be far from a surprise if she landed the chances here for the Godolphin outfit.

York 5.20 – London City

CITY OF LONDON looks to have a golden opportunity to continue his recent success at Dundalk, as he steps into the Handicap company for the first time. It was a real galloping effort as he powered through the hard yards last time out on his first start at an extended distance of 10 feet. Diving into the 93rd Handicap ranks, we can see him taking another step forward here, where that added emphasis on endurance can only work in his favor.

Aidan O’Brien’s team is just starting to step up a gear, and with Ryan Moore on board, he can get the job done here. With the win, it wouldn’t shock me if he then puts his hat in the ring for model events, which should pop up on the radar like at Royal Ascot. This is my biggest fantasy of the day.
