Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone’s film ‘Bugonia’ establishes a new release date

“Bugonia”, the latest collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and star Emma Stone, will be presented at first before the calendar.

The film will open in certain rooms of October 24 before developing nationally on October 31. It is a little earlier than the original release date of November 7. Focus Features is deployed “Bugonia” in the United States and Canada while Universal Pictures, the parent company of the specialized studio, will take care of international distribution.

“Bugonia”, a remake of the South Korean science fiction comedy “Save the Green Planet”, revolves around two friends obsessed with the conspiracy which kidnaps the great power of a large company because they are convinced that it is a foreign intention to destroy the earth. Jesse Plemons, who worked with Stone and Lanthimos on “type of kindness”, also leads the cast alongside Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone.

Lanthimos produces Will Tracy, whose credits include “the menu” and “succession”. Stone and Lanthimos were producers – via their respective companies Fruit Tree and Pith – in their last team following “Poor Things”, “The Favorite” and “Type of kindness”. Producers also include Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe from Element Pictures, Ari Aster and Lars Knusden from Square Peg, and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of CJ EnM.

Focus features won an auction war for “Bugonia”, a departure for Lanthimos after Searchlight distributed its three previous films, “The Favorites” of 2018, “Poor Things” of 2023 and “Knys of Kindness” of 2024. A24 Distribution Les Deux before that, “The Lobster” in 2015 and “The Killing of 2015.

The next studio list includes “Hamnet” by ChloĆ© Zhao, led by Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley; “The Phoenician regime” of Wes Anderson; Hugh Jackman and the musical drama led by Kate Hudson “Song Sung Blue”; Ronan Day-Lewis’ first feature film “Anemone”, with his father, Daniel Day-Lewis; And “Honey don!” from Ethan Coen! “With Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans.
