Xander Schauffele holds off Bryson DeChambeau to win record PGA Championship

Xander Schauffele made a spectacular birdie on the 72nd hole to win the 2024 PGA Championship in just one time.

The world No. 3 held off a charge from Bryson DeChambeau in the final round to finally claim the first major victory of his career at Valhalla Golf Club.

LIV Golf star DeChambeau shot a superb 64, including a birdie at the last, to leave Schauffele needing a four at the par-five 18th to avoid a play-off.

Overcoming an awkward second shot, the 30-year-old kept his composure on the green, making a six-foot putt as DeChambeau watched helplessly from the practice range.

Schauffele finished with an average of 21 under, which is the lowest score in major championship history, breaking the previous record of 20 under par set by Jason Day at the 2015 PGA Championship.

DeChambeau ended up at 20 under par, marking the first major championship in history where multiple players finished at 20 under par or better.

More soon.
