WWE Legend The Undertaker Reveals Losing His Cool, Offensive Opponent For Real During Match

WWE legend The Undertaker has revealed that he once “lost” in a match and launched a full-blown attack on another wrestler in the ring.

The iconic performer, who dominated WWE for a 30-year career, is considered one of the best characters in all of wrestling.

The Undertaker debuted in WWE in 1990 and wrestled for 30 years before retiring.

Although The Phenom has had many memorable moments, matches and storylines over these decades, not everything sticks beautifully in the memory.

In a stunning retelling of one such story, the man behind the black hat and coat, Mark Calaway, admitted to unloading on an opponent for not following instructions during a fight.

In 1993 and during what were still the Undertaker’s formative years, Calaway feuded with towering former basketball star Jorge ‘Giant’ Gonzalez.

In theory, it was an eternal rivalry. Gonzalez dominated the giant Undertaker, but lacked the skills and finesse needed to succeed in the wrestling world.

“It was such a struggle,” the Hall of Famer recalled, via his podcast series.

“It wasn’t his fault. You can only do what you can do and, on paper, what a viable threat to The Undertaker since he’s a foot taller than me.

“I don’t think I had a good match with him…I tried hard, man. I was trying to make chicken salad with chicken shit – he was so limited in what he could do.

Undertaker and Gonzalez have fought several times, including in an infamous match at WrestleMania 9 in 1993 that failed to capture the imagination.

They also clashed on the road, as part of WWE’s relentless touring schedule, with Taker revealing that, exhausted, he had finally lost patience with the powerhouse.

“He broke me, he made me crack,” he added.

“In the 90s, I burned the candle, I burned it at both ends, in the middle and on the sides.

“In 93, I have zero juice, no pull, no hit. We were always doing double shots (two events per day.)

“I told Jeorge, ‘I don’t care how hard you hit me with your forearm, just hit me in the shoulder blades.’ That’s all I ask. Hit me in the shoulder blades, I’ll sell for you and we’ll do what we came to do.

“Each time, he would pull me down, grab me by the back of the head, and I expected to be shot in the shoulder blades, and he would hit me in the back of the neck.

“I was as patient as I could be.”

Undertaker explained that he once again discussed the issue with his opponent and made it clear what he expected in their matches the following day.

Assured that everything was understood, they returned to the ring, but the same tragedy occurred – but this time with even more disastrous consequences.

The Demon of Death Valley continued, “Five seconds later, he pulls me down and hits me on the back of my neck. Once I got the feeling back in my fingers, because now I’m getting darts shooting down, I turned around.

“I turned around and started chasing him. He had no idea. I hit him so fast, so many times, that he couldn’t fight back. I was an asshole.

“He tried to lean back and I lunged at him. I could see George The Animal Steele, who was the agent, he was running down the aisle yelling, “Stop!” Stop! Stop!

“I went back to the locker room and I was pacing back and forth, waiting for him to come back. He came back, he was upset and they held me. I had lost it.

“I felt bad afterwards…he was limited to what he could do and I had had enough.”

Undertaker at least picked up a win in the one match against Gonzalez that fans remember most, taking on the giant at Mania 9.

They faced each other in one final major match later that same year, with the Texan once again claiming victory at SummerSlam.

Fast forward to 2024, he once again took part in WWE’s annual spectacle with an incredible appearance at WrestleMania 40.
