Wrong-way driver arrested on suspicion of DUI in fatal Bonsall crash

A driver who allegedly crashed into another vehicle Sunday evening in Bonsall, killing the passenger in the other vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol, county officials said. the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 11:25 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado heading east on Gopher Canyon Road near Hoxie Ranch Road swerved into oncoming traffic, the trooper said. CHP Hunter Gerber in a press release.

The pickup truck — driven by a 29-year-old woman — collided head-on with a Toyota Camry traveling west, Gerber said. The driver of the sedan, a 51-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 53-year-old man, were seriously injured.

The driver of the van was released from the hospital and arrested on several allegations, including suspicion of murder, misdemeanor drunk driving and manslaughter.
