Wrigley Field upgrades lighting for Chicago Cubs’ night games – NBC Chicago

Night games at Wrigley Field will look a little different this year.

New outdoor lighting and fixtures were recently installed at Wrigley Field, a Chicago Cubs spokesperson said. According to the spokesperson, the new lights highlight the stadium’s columns, lighting poles and exterior and help highlight the stadium’s renovated historic features.

The lights are also capable of producing custom colors for special events, the spokesperson said, noting that the “primary use of the light” will be ambient white lights during nighttime, game day and non-game days throughout the year.

Wrigley underwent a large-scale redevelopment in 2014. At the time, team officials announced they would spend $500 million renovating the 110-year-old stadium over a four-year period.

The 2024 season at the historic stadium begins Monday, with the Cubs’ home opener scheduled for 1:20 p.m. against the Colorado Rockies.
