They seek to strengthen their team with experienced players in higher divisions and Cairney would be the perfect crisis, after driving the Cotgers to promote the championship three times.
According to the Telegraph, Wrexham has already made an approach, although the discussions are still in the early stages.
The 34 -year -old man has been in Craven Cottage for a decade and has been captain of the London West since 2017.
But the midfielder, who has made 23 Premier League achievements this season, is expected to leave Fulham when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Cairney was capped by Scotland twice and played 318 times in the championship.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has already opted for those who have experience and have signed former Premier League players Jay Rodriguez, James McClean and Steven Fletcher in recent seasons.
Jonny Evans and Jamie Vardy were also linked to a move on the Hippodrome field.
Parkinson said the club would not have a policy “no superstars and no Egos as the club undertook promotion in the Premier League.
“I think it’s interesting because the leap into wages is incredible-breathtaking,” he said.
“ Even when you arrive at the level (from League one), the jump to obtain players of the quality of the championship is expensive but obviously with the next level, I do not think that people outside football realize completely.
“We have always tried to make sure that the club’s culture is right and I think it’s the key – no superstars, no ego in the locker room – and we have to try to start this balance again.
