Wrestlemania XL LIVE: Date, UK start time, match cards for both nights and how to follow as The Rock returns for 40th annual show

WrestleMania week is underway, with the 40th annual edition of WWE’s biggest show promising to be one of the biggest of all time.

The trip to the Showcase of the Immortals is the most anticipated in recent memory, with the return of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The Great One, who remains wrestling’s most successful export, is finally back in the company where he made his name.

Aside from a program with John Cena at WrestleMania 28 and 29, The Rock has made only sporadic appearances in WWE since arriving in Hollywood in 2004.

But the 51-year-old will enjoy one last run inside the squared circle after turning heel to partner with undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

The duo, part of the same Anoa’i wrestling family, teams up against 2024 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

The American Nightmare unsuccessfully challenged Reigns for the WWE Title at WrestleMania last year and is looking for revenge.

Logan Paul, Becky Lynch and Iyo Sky are also ready for action.

Wrestlemania XL: How to follow

This year’s flagship event will once again take place over two nights, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April.

It will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the 67,500-capacity stadium of the NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

The respective cards will both start from 1am in the UK and continue until the early hours of each morning.

The action will begin with the WWE Kickoff Show from midnight in the UK and will be available to stream for free on the WWE YouTube channel.

TNT Sports Box Office will then broadcast both shows on UK television, with coverage starting at 1am, and more details can be found here.

It will also be broadcast live on the WWE Network – it costs £9.99 per month for subscribers and can be canceled at any time.

Wrestlemania XL: What was said?

Cody Rhodes has confirmed reports that he has signed a new deal with WWE just days before WrestelMania.

“I can tell you that quarantine is out of the question, simply because – not to give you a scoop because this has been widely reported – but I signed a new contract with WWE. And that extends beyond on my 40th birthday.” Rhodes said Justin Walker on 8 News Now.

“However, I will say that the plan is always, when it’s time to come out, to come out without it being a painful process. Only because I considered my father an old wrestler. And he loved it – he loved it , but as a son, it was difficult to see.

“And my daughter, she’ll be two years old soon and three years old here, there has to be a time – just like he did with us – where I have to be home all the time and be there with her.

“So it’s not 40 anymore, but… I don’t know, I’ll update the number. Plus, I hit this prime late in the game. So I often forget that I approaching 40 years.”
