Israel-Gaza War
The war between Israel and Gaza has lasted six months and tensions have spilled over into the surrounding region.
The war: On October 7, Hamas militants launched an unprecedented cross-border attack on Israel, which included taking civilian hostages at a music festival. Israel declared war on Hamas in response, launching a ground invasion that caused the largest population displacement in the region since Israel’s creation in 1948.
Crisis in Gaza: In the Gaza Strip, Israel has waged one of the most destructive wars of this century, killing tens of thousands of people and plunging at least half the population into “starvation-like conditions.” For months, Israel resisted pressure from its Western allies to allow more humanitarian aid into the enclave.
