This year’s Billboard Women in Music took over the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California on Saturday March 29, and it was the ultimate celebration of the brightest stars in industry.
The laureates of the artists during the starry event of this year included Doechi, receiving the prize for women of the year, as well as Aespa (group of the year), Ángela Aguilar (Breakthrough Prize), Erykah Badu (Icon Award), Glorilla (Global Force Award), Gracie Abrams (Songwriter of the year), Jennie Royal Whiskey), Meghan Trainor (Hitmaker Award), Muni Long (Rising Star Award delivered by Honda Stage) and Tyla (Impact Award awarded by Bose). World women of the year are Anna (Billboard Italy Woman of the Year) and Charlotte Cardin (Billboard Canada Woman of the year).
While accepting her trophy as a woman of the year, Doechii called her “a complete moment of circle”, because she previously accepted the honor of the rising star a few years ago. “It is our mother-king to rightly meet to recognize himself, support each other and celebrate,” she said during her powerful speech. “We are the creators, we are the leaders, we are the innovators who are just as central to this industry as men.
Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, also accepted the inaugural presentation of the honor of the mother of the year.
This year’s presenters included Becky G, Kali Chis, Madison Beer, Julia Michaels, Lauren Jauregui, Mickey Guyton, Suki Waterhouse, Summer Walker, Tanner Adell, Victoria Monet and Zara Larsson.
