A man has died following an incident in which he appears to have been shot in self-defense.
Authorities say the shooting happened around 9:47 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Shamrock Avenue in Monrovia.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding a possible violation of a restraining order. When they arrived, they found an Asian man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
LASD says the Asian man arrived at the home armed with knives and attempted to stab a white man and a white woman who lived on the property. Investigators determined the woman shot the deceased to stop him from advancing on her and the man.
The woman and man who lived in the house were questioned by police and neither was arrested. It is unclear how the three individuals knew each other, nor why the Asian man appeared on the property with weapons.
