SAN JOSE – A woman was found shot to death Friday evening in downtown San Jose, authorities said.
Officers responded to a report of an injury around 9:07 p.m. in the area of North 4th Street and East St. John Street, police said Saturday.
The victim, who was no longer breathing when police arrived, was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead. This is the 12th homicide of the year in the city.
The suspect was missing by the time police arrived on scene. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect or a possible motive for the shooting.
The victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
