A deal on $100,000 annual sponsorship deals for each player on the roster of the Las Vegas Aces, the two-time defending WNBA champions, is under investigation, the league confirmed in an email to Washington Post.
The agreements with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority cover this season and next and do not violate the league’s salary cap because they were reached with individual players and not in relation to their teams. However, they could still be considered a financial benefit that other franchises cannot offer, potentially violating the spirit of the rules.
